Manado is the capital city of North Sulawesi province, Indonesian. Manado city is also often called Menado or city tinutuan by local residents. Motto of North Sulawesi is Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou, a philosophy of life of Minahasa popularized by Sam Ratulangi, which means: "Human life to humanize other people" or "People live to turn someone else". In the words of the language of Manado, often said: "Baku beking pande" which literally means "Mutual adds smart with others". The city of Manado on Sulawesi Sea beach exactly at Manado Bay. Bunaken National Park is located not far from the coastal city of Manado.
Traditional music from the city of Manado and the surrounding area known as Kolintang music. Kolintang musical instrument made from a number of different wood in length so as to produce different tones. Usually to play a song it takes a number of musical instruments kolintang to produce a combination of good sound. In general, life in the city of Manado similar to other big cities in Indonesia. The city center located on Jalan Sam Ratulangi who built many shopping centers located along the north-south line which is also known as a place that has a well-known restaurants in Manado. Lately Manado is famous for the more proliferation of shopping malls and restaurants built along the coast that take advantage of the beautiful scenery at sunset.
"KAWANUA" Manado community is also referred to as "citizen Kawanua". Although it is specifically defined to Kawanua Minahasa tribe, but in general the population Manado can be called also as citizens Kawanua. In the language of the Minahasa region, "Kawanua" is often interpreted as the inhabitants of the land or "Wanua-Wanua" a unified or "Mina-Esa" ( Minahasa people). The word "Kawanua" believed to have originated from the word "Wanua". The word "Wanua" in the Old Melayu language (Proto Melayu), defined as residential areas. While in Minahasa language, the word "Wanua" is defined as a country or village.
"Manado city for the 2010 World Tourism" To enhance the tourism potential of Manado, Jimmy Rimba Rogi as Mayor of the period 2005 - 2010, proclaimed Manado as the World Tourism City 2010, the declaration was intended to increase the potential for tourism in the city of Manado so that it can be calculated as a world tourist destination in the future. Some of the best known policy is to relocate hawkers (street vendors) who have long traded in the Garden of National Unity or used to be called the Market '45 and restore function as a pedestrian sidewalk rather than as a street vendor selling. Efforts are doing so to contribute in terms of return achieved for the city of Manado Adipura award in 2007.
